World Youth Day is celebrated every year on the 12th of August. This year, the day was celebrated by youngsters in the Balkan region through a video. The video was initiated by the Youth Engagement Workers within the project “Balkan regional platform for youth participation and dialogue”.
The video named “Balkan youth unplugged” was recorded by several youngsters from the region, who worked together on the same topic and with same purpose: To hear the opinions of young people regarding the problems they are facing and the things they need. The video was shared by the participating LDAs on the World Youth Day.
The Young engagement workers from Mostar, Vlore, Knjazevac, Peja, Zavidovici, Niksic, Subotica, Kavadarci, and Prijedor asked local youngsters questions like “What’s good about being young?”and “What are the problems youngsters are facing?” to see the point of view of youngsters in the region, thus raising awareness about the importance of youth activism and youth participation in decision making.
