The Local Democracy Agency Zavidovići organized an event entitled "Youth Participation - Good Practice Becomes Our Practice" within the project "Regional Youth Compact for Europe" funded by the European Union.

The event aimed to bring together all stakeholders (representatives of the Municipality, public institutions, non-governmental sector as well as youth representatives) who work with young people and work to improve the position of young people in our society to discuss current situation and to present some good practices in our local community, several initiatives that have been implemented by young people.

Also, the event was an opportunity for LDA Zavidovići to present the results of a survey on the needs and problems of young people in our local community. By presenting the results of the survey to decision makers, all stakeholders had the opportunity to see in which areas of implementation of the local Youth Strategy we are lagging behind, and which segments of the Strategy need to be improved.

With such events, the LDA wants to improve the action towards young people both by decision makers and by the non-governmental sector that works with young people, but also to provide young people with time and space to present the problems they face in their daily lives.

The event allowed us to share with stakeholders further steps to improve the situation of young people, some of the conclusions are that such events should be organized continuously and further publicized, further one of the conclusions was to introduce a Youth Officer in municipal government structures to deal exclusively with young people, that young people must be more actively involved in creating a budget for young people which will make a purposeful allocation of funds from the municipal budget, and that youth activism is growing and this wave of activism should be used in the best way.

Regional Youth Compact for Europe is a project that aims to empower civil society organizations and especially youth organizations in the region to participate more actively in creating reforms that will bring us closer to the European Union, to participate in public dialogue and influence policies. One of the goals of the project is to bring closer to young people the process of integration into the European Union.
