On October 23, 2018, Local Democracy Agency Montenegro organized Youth Taking Over Day.
The aim of this day is to bring young people closer to the work of the local self-government, to get to know better the functioning of the municipality and to visit the reference services and the secretariats of local self-government. Youngsters visited first the Secretariat for Culture, Sports, Youth and Social Care of the Municipality of Niksic, were they are hosted by Milan Korac, head of this secretariat. He gave introduction of the areas of work of the Secretariat, with special emphasis on areas that are close to youth, sports and culture, as well as education, especially opportunities for scholarships.
Svetozar Bajovic, Head of the Culture department, especially emphasized the possibilities of young people to follow cultural events in the city, on more favorable conditions, and that students can buy tickets for theatre in 50% lower than the total price, and that a large number of content can be used for free, including movie shows.
After that, the young people were welcomed by Slobodanka Roganovic, the head of the Mayor's Cabinet, and in a wider sense described the competencies and areas of work of the Municipality. She particularly emphasized the importance of young people's participation in decision-making processes, as well as necessary to be in the process and give their opinion / proposals before certain regulations, acts and decisions come into force.
The young people also visited the Civic Bureau and got acquainted with the work of this service, as the first place for contact between citizens and individual Secretariats / Services.
In the end, the young people also visited the Office for the Prevention of drug use, as well as the City Library “Njegos”.
This visit is attended by members of the informal youth club "Connect", which functions within the Gymnasium Stojan Cerovic from Niksic.
