Hello nice people! First of all let me introduce myself, my name is river Sana. It comes from the Latin word "aqua sanus" meaning healthy water. I would like to tell you my story. I was born from three springs in the plateau near the village of Donja Pecka and Jasenovi streams. Have you ever been there?

I am surrounded by beautiful nature and it would be very pleasant for me if you could visit the little green corner of this beautiful place. Many plants and creatures inhabit the coasts that surround me and live in a trough through which I flow. In the lower reaches, my water is cold and safe to drink. Also, I am classified as one of the most beautiful rivers in Bosnia and Herzegovina. I jealously keep huchens, fishs that exist in only six rivers around the planet. Yes, I am proud to be one of them.

Surprisingly, the potential of this place was recognized by state institutions and spatial plans: this whole area around the spring and lower flows was declared as nature park. I felt honored and happy, at least for a while...

Well, as it is well-known, happiness is short-lived. It didn't take long to discover their true faces and hidden agenda, all for the benefit of the individuals! What a misconception?! Who could believe that they would do something for nature preservation in this country? They sold me! I became the property of investors who resolutely built hydroelectric power stations on my spring with the permission of those who, probably, have never been there and have never enjoyed benefits that I am unselfishly providing. But what do investors know about me? How can they appreciate and respect me when I don't mean anything to them, when they don't cultivate love for nature? They only see profit. They didn’t grow up, learn to swim, dive next to me. They didn't walk, fall in love for the first time or even kissed on my coast. They didn’t spend hours looking at me and thinking about random chance, fate, life and then letting me take all these worries away, far away across the Una and Sava rivers, into Danube, and finally into a Black sea. And where are all the barbecues, roasting maize, the beach as an escape from the hot asphalt and bustle in the summer? 

We share a lot of memories together. I washed away many of your sorrows and greeted your joys, but what does it mean to investors?

For them, I am just a figure, a number, a letter, a profitable investment. They will torture me, destroy me, exhaust me, and then they will give me back to you. You who are fighting for me because I can't do it on my own! You who don’t give up on me for the past seven years! You who truly love me like any other piece of nature in this absurd country! Don't give up on your goals and save me for the future! I still want to wash your faces and listen to your jokes and laughs!
