As a Youth Engagement Worker for the Balkan Regional Platform for Youth Participation and Dialogue, Nikola Shteriov, representing ALDA Skopje, Macedonia, was on a job shadowing activity in the Local Democracy Agency in Zavidovici, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The job shadowing activity was held from the 27th of July until the 7th of August 2015.
The primary task was observation of everyday activities in the office of LDA Zavidovici. Nikola also visited and observed the work of nearby Center for Growth and Development of the Skills of Children and Youth, where young people hold workshops for pre-school and school age children, as well as for other young people.
Most of the time the activities of Nikola were concentrated around two projects being implemented simultaneously in this period: the project "Strani Vari" and the youth exchange "Being Citizen Today".
"Strani Vari" is a project held in Zavidovici every year, where young volunteers from Italy join their Bosnian peers and hold educational, creative and recreational workshops and activities for school kids in their schools during the summer holiday; while "Citizens Today" was a bilateral youth exchange between Bosnian and Italian participants in Zavidovici.
During this period the exposition of photographies of the youth art workshop "How young people see their city" of the Balkan Regional Platform for Youth Participation and Dialogue also took place. Nikola visited the assistant of the mayor of Zavidovici, Ms Džeraldina Miličević together with the LDA delegate Sladjan Ilic, in order to exchange information on ongoing activities.
A visit to Sarajevo was also in the schedule.During the visit Nikola, together with the other volunteers from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Italy, visited, among other things, the Srebrenica Museum and the City Hall Museum. They also visited the local recreational site of Kamenica and the Info Point of the Park of Nature “Tajan” opened by the European Union.
