The Regional research on youth mobility is being conducted within the project “Balkan regional platform for youth participation and dialogue”. As part of the research, the participating Local Democracy Agencies from five countries – Macedonia, Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo - organized focus groups that targeted young people from marginalized groups on the age between 15 and 30.
Nine focus groups were organized during July and August 2016. The LDAs gathered youngsters from their local communities and from other less developed localities to hear their point of view on the topic.
The purpose of every focus group was getting important relevant information, data and opinions about youth mobility, education and social life from the young people in the local community. The participants shared their knowledge, experiences and opinions about youth mobility in terms of education, employment, volunteering, internships etc. Other than that, they were encouraged to discuss and analyze issues in terms of the opportunities and barriers for youth participation.
The results obtained from the focus groups, as a qualitative research method, will be used for the needs of the regional research on youth mobility in western Balkans.
The research involves other means of collecting information, such as the regional survey that involves the five participating countries and focuses on the population of vulnerable youth groups from the local communities.
