On Thursday, 07/30/2015, Local Democracy Agency Prijedor organized a focus group. Young people had the opportunity to discuss, explore and analyze issues related to the opportunities and barriers to youth participation. This focus group is part of a regional research on youth participation within the project "Balkan regional platform for youth participation and dialogue".
Young people had the opportunity to discuss in a group that included 16 young people from different areas of social, economic and social life of the town of Prijedor. They were representatives of non- governmental organizations and associations as young activists and volunteers (Foundation "United way", NGO “Neven”, Women Association "Nada", Citizens' Association ALD, "Scouts"). They discussed the opportunities and barriers that young people have in their local community, emphasized the common problems they faced and tried to draw conclusions and brainstorm ways to face those issues.
The purpose of the focus group was to complement findings of Survey and desk research. This research focus on: opinion and attitude of youth people regarding their role in the process of social change; existing opportunities and barriers to youth participation in their communities/countries. In particular it is targeting youth in vulnerable situations.
The results of the focus group will be used to create recommendations for improvement of conditions for youth participation across the Balkans, as well as for creation of guidelines for development of future project activities
