On the 28th July 2016 the Conference on “Local and international voluntary work - Experiences and opportunities” was held in the Municipal Assembly Hall of Peja - organized by Ass. Trentino con i Balcani, the lead partner of LDA Kosovo and the Municipality of Peja - in which the speakers and the audience had the opportunity to discuss the fundamental role that voluntary work plays in our societies, and moreover, to inform the public about opportunities of becoming a volunteer at local or international level.
The speakers at the Conference consisted of the President of the Council of the Municipality of Peja, the Director of Association Trentino con i Balcani, Mr. Maurizio Camin, the Director for Culture, Youth and Sport of the Municipality of Peja and other speakers as well, the Delegate of Local Democracy Agency of Kosovo. Mr. Elbert Krasniqi held a speech about the importance of voluntarism as he sees it professionally and locally with a regional breath – according to the Balkan Regional Platform for Youth Participation and Dialogue. He was also explaining the administrative intrusions order of the Ministry for Youth, Culture and Sports, for youth voluntarism and voluntary work, with a specific focus on the benefits for youngsters and youth voluntarism and the challenges on the implementation. The second point of the discussion was the voluntary work in the framework of the Regional Youth Platform.
It was a useful debate for all the participants hearing different experiences of voluntary work, such as the European Voluntary Service, and other youth programmes regarding voluntarism and its benefits for all the ages, especially for the youth.
