Education opportunities for students: Interview with Lea Lendjel

Education opportunities for students: Interview with Lea Lendjel

Lea Lendjel is student at the Technical College (VTS) in Subotica, Serbia. During her studies, she has had the opportunity to participate in student exchange within the CEEPUS programme.

1.       Have you ever participated in this type of programme before taking part in CEEPUS?

Yes, but not within a school program. I was usually involved in different NGO’s in my younger years where we had youth exchanges and there I experienced non-formal learning. Here I had the opportunity to participate in formal learning but in my own free way.

2.       Could you tell us more about your activities within the programme?

I had a task to make my own project in the IT field. Through it I have learned the basics of programming and designing. I had a mentor who helped me and gave me suggestions or tips how to make my project simple but effective in a short time. I presented the project back in my home town where it was graded.

3.       Where did the programme take place, and what was your project about?

I was in Budapest, Hungary. I decided to make a simple website for the ELTE collage in Budapest. The topic was Biology because they had a Biology museum within the building with lots of interesting things. I was amazed! I had two Hungarian girls who were with me in the group. We took pictures of some of the exhibits in the Biology museum and we wrote some fun facts about animals or objects so when the students look it up on a PC, they have more information about it.

4.       Why did you decide on doing the exchange in Budapest?

I’ve never been there before. That was my first time and I loved it. I know a little Hungarian so it was also a good opportunity to improve my second language.

5.       Do you recommend this type of exchange to other students?

Yes! Definitely! You don’t have to be a straight A student to go, just the will to experience something new, meet new people and develop your skills. I recommend it to everyone!
