On 19 and 20 November Youth Club in Niksic organized a training “Advocacy and initiatives submission“ for youth from Niksic.
The aim of this training was to develop capacities of youth for being active in policy and decision making, to learn more about mechanisms of participation and how to create a better conditions for development in local community.
Participants had the opportunity to learn more about the Law on Local Self-Government, the Statute of the municipality of Niksic, the Law on NGO and the Law on Youth, and about the best ways that young people can submit an initiative, citizens' initiative, organize a local referendum for citizens and similar. Through examples of good practice there were presented earlier initiatives that were submitted by citizens and methods of lobbying for them.
Youth were very inspired and they recognized a lot of problems in the local community where they can influence through these mechanisms as lobbying, citizens initiatives and etc. Also, as a result of this training participants made three key initiatives that they will or already are submitted to municipal competent authorities.
This training is a part of project “Be informed, get involved” which was supported through the Youth Fund Support Programme within the Balkan Regional Platform for Youth Participation and Dialogue, supported by the European Union.
